The original address of the Park Avenue Liquor Shop was 97 Park Avenue. As the landscape of the city began to change, the original home of our shop was marked to come down. But our love for the city was strong and we decided to make a move just around the corner to 23 East 40th Street. Then in 1975, we moved once more to our current location, 292 Madison Avenue.

With wine’s growing popularity there are numerous shopping options for the consumer: stores on every other street corner, the internet, as well as the suburban wine and liquor emporia. SIP is a more personalized experience. No wine is selected because it’s inexpensive, famous, or given a high score. As a result, much of the selection is comprised of small family producers, many of whom use minimal impact farming techniques such as organic, sustainable & biodynamic agriculture.

Striving to provide a range of prices for the major and obscure varietals and across the world. As a fixture in the neighborhood for over eight years, the staff has been fortunate to become intimate with customers' tastes; such familiarity allows for unique suggestions for complex questions of food/wine pairings or simple ones like what to drink on a rainy Wednesday.
