Founded in 1980, Books of Wonder is New York City's largest and oldest children's bookstore and the city's leading specialist in children's literature. Among the various departments in our store are sections devoted to children's classic and contemporary picture books, board books for infants and toddlers, foreign language children's books, reference books for children (dictionaries, atlases, etc.), non-fiction, and chapter books and novels for children from beginning readers to teens. And, of course, there is our world famous Oz section - a whole bookcase devoted to the many Oz books by L. Frank Baum and his successors. Of special interest to collectors is our wall of old, rare, and collectible children's books and original children's book art. |

Bluestockings is a radical bookstore, fair trade cafe, and activist center in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. We've recently expanded both our space and our hours. We can now fit more books and more comfortably host events.
We carry over 4000 titles on topics such as queer and gender studies, global capitalism, feminism, police and prisons, democracy studies, and black liberation. You can also find some good 'ole smutty fiction. We also carry magazines, zines, journals, alternative menstrual products and other oddly hard-to-find good things. We host readings, workshops, performances, discussions and films almost every night. Please see our events calendar for details on upcoming events, and when visiting the store, take a look at our community bulletin board to learn about other events happening around the city. Oh, and we run a cafe which is full of organic, vegan, fair trade goodness! |

An online/mail-order bookdealer located in Downtown Brooklyn's Fort Greene neighborhood. We have been dealing in books since 1995 and living happily in Fort Greene since 1972.
Downtown Brooklyn is a fascinating place with a wealth of historical and cultural interest. It was the focal point of the Battle of Brooklyn (or, as some have it, the Battle of Long Island) and the departure point of Washington's famous retreat that saved American forces. The landmark Martyrs' Monument., which honors the more than 10,000 victims of British prison ships during the War for Independence sits in Fort Greene Park at the end of our street. At the other end of our street each November the runners in the New York City Marathon will pass along Lafayette Avenue. A bit further down Lafayette Avenue is BAM, the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Fort Greene is and has long been home to numerous artists and musicians. |

The Quest Bookshop has been open for business for over 30 years; it is owned and operated by the New York Theosophical Society, which has been serving the spiritual needs of New Yorkers of all religions and creeds for well over a century.
We are an independent bookshop. This means that we are here to fit the needs of the community, not to fit the needs of some large corporation, or pressure groups from another part of the country. We pride ourselves on our independence, and stand as a barrier to those who are trying to create a monopoly on the publishing industry. |

Pageant Book Shop was founded in 1946 by Sidney B. Solomon and Henry "Chip" Chafetz as a used and rare book shop in New York City. Pageant had its home in several locations along Fourth Avenue, known as “Book Row of America”, for 35 years before moving around the corner to East 9th Street. During that time, Mr. Solomon and Mr. Chafetz branched out into several additional areas which included selling prints and maps, reprinting scholarly and important works such as Henry Roth’s “Call It Sleep” and publishing the award winning Pageant Facsimile of the Gutenberg Bible.

"We started in 1990 as a traditional bookstore offering Polish language literature on the American market. Very soon we realized how important it is to reach people that cannot just visit Polish neighborhoods in New York and Chicago to purchase books. We quickly turned into a mail order company producing book catalogs reaching the whole country and some Polish-Canadian readers. We also kept enlarging our offer: adding videos, CD's, multimedia, audio books. In 1999 we made our first catalog named “Poland Sweet Poland” where we for the first offered Polish gourmet products. It was a huge success! And it also gave us an idea for a creation of SweetPoland.com"
