Our students are accomplished, diverse, and civic-minded. When they graduate, they join the ranks of our 16,000-strong alumni body. Our alumni are noted members of the bench and bar, and are leaders in public service and private industry. Our faculty are internationally recognized scholars, whose influence extends far beyond the borders of our campus. Here at BLS, these gifted teachers are dedicated to honing the legal minds of the 21st century. Our curriculum is attuned to the evolving needs of our students and the society they will serve. Innovative teaching techniques augment traditional course offerings with instruction in emerging areas of law. Then there is our location in beautiful Brooklyn Heights. New York Theological Seminary began its life in 1900 with the founding of the Bible Teachers’ College in Montclair, New Jersey by Wilbert Webster White. A gifted scholar and teacher, President White was a leading proponent of the inductive Bible study method, and believed that the Bible ought to occupy the central position in the theological curriculum. The inductive method emphasizes three steps in biblical interpretation: observe, interpret and apply. It lent itself easily to an emphasis on practical training for ministry

Like their predecessors early in the 20th century, some Rockefeller researchers today seek to solve urgent public health problems. Others focus on basic research. Various laboratories study bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics, multidrug treatments for AIDS and genetic causes of cancer. Others are devoted to understanding the brain–how it develops during embryonic growth; how it makes sense of sights, sounds and smells; and what happens when Alzheimer’s disease develops. In addition, faculty focus their research on human genetics, molecular biology, neuroscience and protein chemistry.

Enrollment at Fordham University includes more than 8,000 undergraduate students and 7,000 graduate students spread over three campuses in New York State: Rose Hill in The Bronx, Lincoln Center in Manhattan, and Marymount in Tarrytown. The University also offers programs in the People's Republic of China and the United Kingdom. Fordham awards bachelor's (BA, BFA, and BS), master's, and doctoral degrees.
Fordham University is composed of four undergraduate colleges and six graduate schools, including the tier-1 Fordham Graduate School of Social Service and the particularly selective tier-1 Fordham School of Law. One of the first co-educational colleges chartered by the University of the State of New York and the oldest private liberal arts university on Long Island, was founded in 1896 through the efforts of Dr. Charles H. Levermore and Timothy Woodruff. Dr. Levermore became its first president. Mr. Woodruff, a former Lieutenant Governor of New York State, served as president of the Board of Trustees.
